Privacy & Terms
Ask Briar is built to save only what it needs to give useful plant-health guidance, keep your plant history available, and operate the service responsibly.

What We Collect
- Your Google account ID, email, name, and profile image when you sign in.
- Profile preferences you choose, such as display name, default plant location, experience level, AI provider, advisor mood, and product recommendation visibility.
- Plant records you create, including nickname, species, location, watering interval, and notes.
- Plant photos you upload for scans, plus optimized copies used for saved plant history or admin review of failed scans.
- Scan results, follow-up feedback, plant-health summaries, recommendations, and related AI metadata such as provider and model.
- Monthly AI usage totals, including request counts and token counts, so we can apply plan limits, overage rules, or future lower-cost model fallbacks.
- If you save your own AI API key, we store an encrypted copy and the last four characters for display. We do not show the full key again.
What We Do Not Collect
- We do not ask for passwords. Sign-in is handled through Google OAuth.
- We do not store payment card numbers in Ask Briar. Future card payments should be handled by a payment processor.
- We do not sell personal user data.
- We do not use paid product placements as plant-care recommendations.
How We Use It
We use saved information to sign you in, connect scan results to your plants, remember your preferences, display plant history, improve the reliability of failed-scan handling, and keep platform AI usage within the limits of the plan connected to your account.
Photos and scan prompts may be sent to the AI provider selected in your profile so Ask Briar can generate plant-health guidance. If you use your own API key, that provider may associate usage with your provider account.
Billing And Usage
Ask Briar tracks platform AI usage by customer and by monthly period. This lets us support memberships with included usage, optional additional usage, or pay-as-you-go pricing later without changing the basic product flow.
When platform usage reaches a configured limit, Ask Briar may stop platform scans, allow paid overage, or switch to a lower-cost model if that behavior is enabled for the account or plan.
Your Controls
- You can delete attached scan photos while keeping the written scan log.
- You can clear saved AI API keys from your profile.
- You can turn product recommendations on or off in your profile.
- You can stop using platform AI and use your own API key instead, if you prefer provider billing to Ask Briar billing.
Plant-Care Limits
Ask Briar gives practical plant-care guidance from the photo and details available. It can be wrong or incomplete, especially when symptoms overlap or important context is not visible. Use local expert advice for valuable, rare, agricultural, or safety-sensitive plant decisions.
Changes
We may update this page as the product, billing options, or storage behavior changes. The current version will remain linked from the Ask Briar header.
